Saturdays are pretty standard. I take a Bar Method or yoga class, go to brunch with my family and then we shop (or go to Disney…super normal, no?). Saturdays in the suburbs…
As newish homeowners we are constantly working on little projects. We’ve been in our house for less than 2 years so we are still in the process of turning it into a home. Our current focus is our Master Bedroom. It is coming together, little by little (home decor is not cheap!). Our mini mission this past weekend: Greenery.
Ideally, we wanted 2-3 plants in various heights and some succulents for the dresser. We made the usual rounds: East End Market, Lowes, and World Market. We successfully picked out a few succulents at East End Market from Porch Therapy – which, side note, deserves its own post. Porch Therapy is one of my favorite places in Orlando. I digress.
Next, we headed to Lowes to scope out the plant options.
Did anyone else used to cry when their dad took them to Home Depot or Lowes? I used to create a scene as a child. I hated no place on Earth more than home improvement stores. The smell made me physically ill (drama). Anyway, I am past that now. In case you were curious.
Before we could even enter Lowes, I spotted a Girl Scout troupe selling cookies! My husband tried to persuade me away, but I insisted. I knew they had several dairy-free options and I “needed” to test them out – for the fetus in my belly, duh. I also needed to share the dairy-free cookie research on my blog – I did it for you guys. 🙂
There are 5 variations of dairy-free Girl Scout Cookies:
- Girl Scout S’mores
- Peanut Butter Patties
- Thin Mints
I bought one box of each. Research purposes.
We left Lowes sans a plant. It is so difficult to find real indoor plants. Neither one of us have a green thumb, so we wanted something we could maintain without a lot of effort. I really wanted a real plant because of the health benefits – positive energy, aromatherapy and air purifying. But, I also didn’t want to invest a lot of money into something I might kill in a week.
Any quick Google search will deliver a list of plants that are perfect for indoor spaces. Despite the references, we just didn’t find anything that spoke to us at Lowes – other than the cookies. 🙂
We headed to World Market to explore the faux options. Immediately, we fell in love with the cactus plants. AND THEY WERE 20% off. No brainer. SOLD.
We ended up with a fake cactus and five boxes of cookies. Mission accomplished.
