Last night, Tony and were conflicted on how to spend our Friday night date night. We planned to have a light dinner followed by painting at a local paint-your-own-pottery studio. This plan included leaving our puppy, Bagel, in her crate for a few hours. Fine. No?

No. Puppy must come everywhere with us.

Hello, seperation anxiety.

We ended up walking to a new restaurant in our neighborhood and enjoying a lovely patio-dining experience – pup in tow. The Baoery opened about a month ago and features fresh and local asian fare with an urbane vibe. The menu includes plenty of vegan/vegetarian options. It’s a perfect date night spot for the omnivore and veghead couple.

TOFU RAMEN, Assorted Vegetables, Tofu, Lemongrass-Chili Broth (vegan if egg is omitted)

VEG HEAD BAO, Fried Tofu, Mushrooms, Vegetable Slaw (vegan)

The bao bun was the most interesting dish. If you’re like me, you’ve never heard of a bao bun. Naturally, curiosity drove me to order one. It was definitely a new taste – it was light, puffy and fresh. If you make it to Baoery, and you should, it is a must try. Tony and I (and Bagel) will definitely be repeat customers.
